The Avengers Review

The Avengers(2012) Avengers Assemble is what Michael Bay could not do with 'Transformers 2/3'. My last review mentioned comparison of Joss Whedon, writer/director of Avengers, to Christopher Nolan. Although he does not surpass, he does manage to stand up to the director of The Dark Knight. This massive coalition of superheros could have been a super disaster. With a running length of 2hrs 22 minutes, Joss Whedon manages to combine the superhero costumes, superhero emotions, superhero special effects, superhero storyline and superhero banter into something that would evoke a rush of adrenalin pump in every viewer. Each character is given justice and they shine out in terms of their group dynamics, even in terms of their acting prowesses. Mark Ruffalo shines as the incredible HULK - his charisma as a person taming one's anger management issues is commendable. The Cabin the Woods (2012) The Cabin in the Woods: Joss Whedon boasts of originality as the creator of characters and story for Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Toy Story. The originality continues with 2012 as the big year for him with the release of 'The Cabin in the woods' as writer and 'The Avengers' as writer/director. As cliché as the title 'The Cabin in the woods' may sound, so innovative is its scripting. The 'whore', the 'athlete', the 'joker', the 'intellectual' and the 'virgin' intertwine in the 'Tales from the Crypt’; however, it’s not the 'Tales from the Crypt' at all. The comic sense is impeccable and succeeds Joss's legacy. The viewer would pre-empt it to be 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but somehow it supersedes '28 Weeks Later' or 'Halloween' with subtle ode to the yesteryears.
